Little Kids, Inc., the top bubble toy manufacturer in the U.S. with licenses from Nickelodeon and others, wanted to develop a new website that wasn't just "pretty pictures" but instead helped connect consumers with retailers and thus move product. But what online marketing techniques would help make this a reality?
Little Kids turned to Vilocity Interactive for advice. As part of website development, Vilocity recommended creating an advanced Product Search and Store Locator. First, visitors to the site would be able to search products based on brand name (like SpongeBob SquarePants™) or product name (like SpongeBob Dancin' Bubble Blower). Once they reviewed a product, viewers could then find a store that carried that particular product, simply by entering their Zip code. The entire system was based on an export from Little Kids' inventory system, thus making frequent updates easy.
Little Kids' marketing efforts, including the website, have led to many successes. A Little Kids product was the top selling toy during summer 2003. Major retailers such as Target and Walgreens now carry their toys. Licenses now include not only SpongeBob, but Blue's Clues™, Dora The Explorer™, Cat In The Hat™, and others are on the way.
